The things to take away from this blog is that namely USBM is lame for the most part. Most of this has to do with the fans, neckbeards, horn-rimmed hipsters, etc. That being said, Wolves in the Throne Room still produce excellent metal music inspired by the black metal genre. All other UsBM bands suck. Avant Garde Black Metal Bands such as Blut Aus Nord and Deathspell Omega are not your traditional BM bands. Indeed, the bands mentioned above are not BM bands at all but are simply metal bands redefining themselves bc the BM scene in truly dead. To classify these bands otherwise is an insult to true nineties BM bands. People, Black Metal is dead. That is the bottom line. All the true BM bands no longer exist and the rest have sold out. The bottom line, fuck the scene and enjoy music. You don't need someone telling you what is good or bad. I heard some amazing shit from a cajun metal band today called Aeon Noir on youtube. The production was shit but it brought back a certain freshness of a band trying to do something different in the metal genre inspired by BM. I'm a purist to a certain extent, but I refuse to let myself be shut off completely to the growth of the metal genre. I wish ABME the best and I thank him for being such a creative force in the journalistic world of BM. Take care all.
